Eastern Milk Snake

Went out to visit Rutland State Park for a few hours this afternoon in search of reptiles and was not dissapointed. At one of my reliable snake locations just feet from the road, I found this gorgeous adult milk snake. I picked him up and placed the snake in an open area covered in pine needles for a few shots. The snake was pretty cooperative, sitting motionless in a defensive posture for a long time. I took a number of photos, but had a tough time getting sharp images and many of them came out overexposed for some unknown reason. I processed this one photo from about twenty images, which is by far the best from today.

  1. Gorgeous snake, gorgeous photo! I wonder why you had difficulty with sharpness? Did you use a tripod? Did you use flash as the main light-source, or any flash at all?

I love the pine needles as the substrate :)

Your blog contains an excelent photo work. I am also a lover of nature photography.

I have been enjoying watching animals that I cannot see in my continent (Europe).

I do not want to miss these beauties, so I will follow your brilliant job just from now.

Warmest Greetings from Spain (Southern Europe).
